SOCIAL BITE
Tackling Homelessness
in Scotland
Shaf Rasul has demonstrated a deep commitment to Social Bite, a Scottish social enterprise dedicated to ending homelessness. His involvement spans several impactful initiatives:
CEO Sleepout Participation
In December 2016, Shaf participated in Social Bite’s CEO Sleepout in Edinburgh’s Charlotte Square. This event challenged business leaders to experience a night outdoors to raise awareness and funds for homelessness. Shaf described it as an eye-opening experience that highlighted the hardships faced by homeless individuals, especially during the winter months.
Fundraising Efforts
Through his participation in the CEO Sleepout, Shaf raised an impressive £15,731 for Social Bite, surpassing his initial target. These funds contributed directly to Social Bite’s initiatives aimed at breaking the cycle of homelessness.
Charity Auction Contribution
In 2019, Shaf was “auctioned off” as part of a Social Bite fundraising event. The Window Supply Company secured the winning bid of £6,500, granting them a day of Shaf’s time. During this day, Shaf provided strategic business advice and even participated in hands-on activities at their factory, demonstrating his willingness to support charitable causes in diverse ways.
British Business Awards Judging Panel
Furthering his support, Shaf joined the judging panel for the inaugural British Business Awards, organized by Social Bite in association with NatWest Group. Scheduled for April 2025, the event aims to raise £1 million to support initiatives tackling homelessness. Shaf’s involvement underscores his dedication to leveraging business platforms for social good.
